Firefighters from the 8th district-Pensacola to Tallahassee-traveled to the capital to join well
over 1000 firefighters from other parts of the state to show opposition to the proposed tax reform. Legislators
have been unable to show the emergency service leaders how the tax reform will not drastically affect public safety.
Florida Fire Chiefs and Firefighter Union Officials have shown politicians how the tax reform will cut budgets of emergency
services to he point of jeopardizing pubic safety; however, our concerns appear to have fallen on deaf ears. Without a doubt,
if the tax reform issue passes as proposed, there will be firehouse closings and lay offs of firefighters, paramedics &
police officers across the state due to the major budget cuts.
