Engine Co. 6, Rescue 6, Battalion 6, Truck Co 4, Engine Co. 4, EngineCo. 3,
DC6 & DC1 responded to a working fire on May 13, 2007 in a downtown area of Fort Walton Beach. Upon arrival of
the first engine, heavy fire was showing from the carport and spreading to the interior of the house and catching the house
on exposure 4 side on fire. Engine Co. 6 with the assistance of Rescue 6 pulled an 2 1/2 solid bore flowing 300 GPM for initial
knock down and protection on the exposure. An 1 3/4 attack line was followed up with for interior operations. Two firefighters
were injured suffering minor burns and a shoulder injury. One firefighter was transported to the hospital and is expected
to make a full recovery. FWBFD received assistance from Okaloosa Island FD and Ocean City-Wright FD. Companies operated
under the command of FWBFD Battalion Chief David Messerschmidt.
