Battalion Chief/EMT David Messerschmidt has been on the job for 26 years. David has progressed through
the ranks of FF, Engineer, Captain and now holds the rank of BC in command of B-Shift. Prior to the FD, Chief Messerschmidt
spent 6 years in the Air Force doing what he describes as a "Bomb Guy". He holds an A. S. Degree in Fire Science,
Fire Officer 1 Certified, Instructor 1, Live Fire Instructor 1, Certified Fire Inspector, & a State Haz-Mat Technician-member
of the Special Operations Haz-Mat Team. On his off time, when he is not in the woods hunting, he works as a Realtor selling
properties. Chief Messerschmift has one grown daughter and currently resides on his farm in Defuniak Springs Florida.
