A busy two days for FWBFD
& OCW crews
During the early morning hours E-7 B-Shift received a call for heavy
fire in a commercial dwelling called in by S.O. E-7 arrived on scene within 4 minutes to find heavy smoke pushing from the
eaves of a metal constructed cabinet shop. E-7 pulled a handline and backed out when it was confirmed hazardous materials
were involved. Eventually the fire went to 4 alarms for manpower. Later that morning E-7 C-Shift received an alarm for a house
fire in the Kenwood subdivision. Capt. of Inspections, Jim Poirrier actually phoned the call in after one of the students
he was showing our safety smoke house to(@ Kenwood Elementary), witnessed heavy smoke issuing from the area a block away.
Capt. Poirrier ran to the scene and reported heavy fire in the rear of the home. He then found the occupant of the home in
the back yard and assisted him to the front yard. The 79 year old man was grilling in the back yard when there
was an apparent malfunction, it caught the side of the home on fire, extended into Florida room and attic. The Daily
News has the video and the story here
